Vehicle Eligibility Criteria
You may list only eligible vehicles that are located in Kenya and meet all legal requirements as below.
Individual Car Owner
You must be age 18 and above to create an account.
Be the legitimate owner of the vehicle (Provide a copy of the Log book with your names on it)
You must have valid motor Insurance
Owner to warrant they have, and will continue to have, existing private insurance policy or commercial insurance policy on the listed vehicle
Submit copy of certificate of insurance to confirm coverage.
Make insurer aware of vehicle’s intended use ; if leased and leasing company provides the insurance, make them aware of vehicle’s intended use on Ride
Your vehicle must meet the following requirements:
- Be registered in Kenya in the name of the owner or a business
- Be listed in the name of an individual or of a company as long as name of individual is included
- Be no more than 10 years old at time of listing (Exceptions available based on our inspection report for luxury cars)
- Have a fair market value of at least Kes 500,000
- You must maintain your vehicle and continue to meet maintenance and safety standards as your vehicle ages
- Be equipped with and have proof of an approved tracker.
Submit via email to us written confirmation of tracker AND either:
- proof of purchase,
- proof of live tracking, or
- a screenshot demonstrating live tracking within the app or portal of the OEM or the-approved tracker
Failure to provide proof or to install required tracker may void protection plan
If vehicle value is more than Kes 1,500,000:
- Be equipped with an approved tracker from our partners
- Submit via email to us written confirmation of tracker AND either (1) proof of purchase, or (2) proof of installation
Failure to provide proof or to install required tracker may void protection plan
Have no branding on the inside or outside other than automaker’s branding or Ride-approved branding
Car rental Firm
Be registered in Kenya as a car rental firm.
Car rental firms are required to state any and all applicable fees, policies, or requirements in their vehicle’s public description.
All fees and policies separate from those that Ride enforces and charges must be disclosed in each listing, including, but not limited to:
- Insurance costs: Protection plans, collision damage waiver (CDW) costs for both physical damage and liability insurance
- Financial requirements or restrictions: Amount and type of deposit required, and if only credit cards are accepted
- Personally-identifiable information: Any information retained from the renter in accordance with their contracts, such as the renter's personal insurance information, Identity number or driver’s license information
- Fees and policies: Airport fees, young driver fees and policies, applicable taxes, cleaning fines and policy, smoking fines and policy, late or early return costs, roadside assistance details and costs, delivery details and cost (if not processed via the Ride Delivery system), fuel details and requirements, mileage details and excess mileage cost, etc
- Any and all procedural requirements that differ from the person-to-person Ride car sharing marketplace experience
Car rental firms must collect reimbursement directly from their renters for any incidentals. If a rental firm submits a reimbursement request through the Reimbursement tool, we will resolve in favor of the guest
Car rental firms who do not update their listing accordingly may be subject to suspension from the Ride marketplace until they have updated each of their vehicles with the correct information.
Car rental firm must assure our customer that they will get the exact vehicle they booked .Any changes must be communicated to the Ride team and the customer and a new booking done.
